KNITTING - INTRODUCTIONS

Beginning & Intermediate Knitting

Welcome to the wonderful world of knitting. As a new knitter we will help you build a solid knitting foundation. You will learn to read & understand basic knitting terminology & the yarn skein band, how to cast on & bind off, the knit and purl stitches & basic pattern reading.

For an intermediate knitter that already knows the basics we will help you increase your knitting knowledge. You will learn about gauge, increase and decrease techniques, ribbing and seed stitch. Bring your questions!

Duration:  2 hr session
Skill Level:Beginner
Prerequisite skills: None.
Homework: Bring supplies to class.
Supplies to Bring to Class: For a beginning class all you need is worsted weight, light colored yarn and knitting needles. 

KNITTING - LACE

Lace 101 - Scarves

Lace just has a way of amazing everyone. You will learn to read & understand basic lace charts. We will teach you about increasing with yarn overs & decreasing with centered & slanted stitches. Together we'll discover blocking; the final step that reveals the beauty that lace has to offer.


Duration: Two 2 hr sessions
Skill Level: Intermediate Beginner
Prerequisite skills: Cast on, knit, purl, Bind off.
Homework: Select pattern from recommended list of scarves (Call us or stop by the shop to see & select pattern from a recommended list), bring supplies to class.
Supplies to Bring to Class: Solid or semi-solid yarn & needles (see details based on recommended pattern selection), row counter, scissors, measuring tape, tapestry needle.

Lace 102 - Shawls


Ready for your first shawl? We'll discuss construction & shapes. Bring your shawl pattern in prior to class so we can define what supplies you will need.

Duration: Four 2 hr sessions
Skill Level: Intermediate Beginner
Prerequisite skills: Cast on, knit, purl, Bind off.
Homework: Bring shawl pattern to shop prior to class day to determine supplies to bring to class.
Supplies to Bring to Class: Yarn & needles (based on your pattern selection), row counter, stitch gauge, scissors, tapestry needle.

KNITTING

Long Distance High Five - Fingerless Mitts,

Whether you're out enjoying the cooler weather or stuck in a too cold office, it is time to show your hands some love! Slide them into a pair of fingerless mitts that are sure to STOP traffic or at the very least have friends asking for their own snazzy pair. We'll recommend patterns that will highlight solid, semi-solid or lightly variegated yarns


Duration: Two 2 hr sessions
Skill Level: Intermediate Beginner
Prerequisite skills: Cast on, knit, purl, bind off, working in the round.
Homework: Select pattern from recommended list, bring supplies to class.
Supplies to Bring to Class: Yarn & needles (see details based on recommended pattern selection), 1yd of contrast color fingering weight yarn, row counter, stitch marker, scissors, measuring tape, tapestry needle.

KNITTING - SOCKS

 

Classic Cuff Down Socks

Ready for socks & double pointed needles? Don't worry; together we will break down the anatomy of a sock. You'll choose between a lace or cable sock pattern. Then we'll start our journey with the cuff & move on to the leg. Then, it is time to turn the heel & transition to the foot. Finally, we'll wrap up with the toe.


Duration: Four 2 hr sessions
Skill Level: Intermediate
Prerequisite skills: Cast on, knit, purl, Bind off.
Homework: Bring supplies to class.
Supplies to Bring to Class: 400 - 430 yds of Fingering (4 ply / 14 wpi) weight yarn, a set of 5 DPNs or needle size to meet pattern gauge, row counter, 2 - 4 stitch markers, scissors, measuring tape, tapestry needle.

CROCHET - INTRODUCTIONS

Beginning & Intermediate Crochet

Welcome to the wonderful world of crocheting. As a new crocheter, we will help you build a solid crocheting foundation. You will learn to read & understand basic pattern reading, crocheting terminology & the yarn skein band. We'll cover the foundation chain, the single, half double & double crochet stitches as you learn to work in rows. For an intermediate crocheter that already knows the basics we will help you increase your crocheting knowledge. 
We will teach you about gauge, how to combine crochet stitches to create granny squares, increase and decrease techniques. Bring your questions!


Duration:Four 2 hr sessions
Skill Level: Beginner 
Prerequisite skills: None.
Homework: Bring supplies to class.
Supplies to Bring to Class: 150 - 200 yds of solid colored worsted (10 ply / 9 wpi) weight yarn, US H (5.0mm) crochet hook, row counter, measuring tape or stitch gauge, scissors, tapestry needle.

NEEDLEPOINT

Needlepoint 101

Two Hour Session that will take you through five commonly used stitches, worked on large canvas so it will be visible and easily to follow.
This two hour session will be $35; supplies included.

Supplies to Bring to Class: If you have scissors bring them. Canvas, and fibers maybe bought in store. 

 

Needlepoint 102

Two Hour Session that will include more textured stitches and compensations in those tricky spots where patterns overlap. 

Skill Level: Intermediate

Prerequisite Skills: Basketweave, basic stitch knowledge.

KNITTING - COWL

Just in the Neck of Time - Cowls

Are you looking to get a jump on holiday gifts or prepping to conquer the Texas wind this winter? Cowls are just the right blend of trendy & classic; all the while providing warmth. Size them up or down or keep knitting until you've used up all your yarn. Highlight It looks great in solid, semi-solid or lightly variegated yarns.
